No, that's not it. I did not inhale.
I love, love, love Dansko shoes. They fit my feet just right. They help keep my hips in alignment. (One of my legs is a little longer than the other, so this is an issue for me.)
But I don't love how the clunky bases of the shoes get so scuffed up. See?
Maybe this just happens to me. Maybe I bang my feet against things more than most people. But honestly, it makes me sad for expensive shoes to look like this.
I took them back to the store. I asked if there was a method for fixing them. I inquired about having the bases re-covered. No go.
But now, thanks to our secret weapon, they look like this!
Obviously I need to clean and polish the leather uppers, but I can do that easily. It was the scuffed-up bases that seemed impossible to fix--until I remembered good old spray paint!
What do you think? A new high? Or a new low?

Just keep an eye out for flaking. My mom once spray-painted a pair of pumps to match an outfit she was going to wear for an afternoon out shopping with a friend. In the middle of a frou-frou rug shop she realized that her she was leaving navy paint flakes all over the expensive merchandise! Granted, spray paint has come a long way since then, but I thought you'd get a giggle out of the story. :)

Very clever solution! I love Danskos too and have been known to touch up mine with a Sharpie marker.
