This Tuesday

Today I'm in California, looking at colleges with my middle son.

There are many things about his leaving North Carolina to go to college in California that I don't like.

I'll admit, though, that the view is not one of them.

  1. I know it has got to be difficult. A beautiful image.

  2. I'm with you. It's so far. My daughter is going to the East Coast. We are a stone's throw from CA. She thinks that since we have Skype that will be enough....I don't think so sister!

  3. I'm with you.....so difficult. My dd has a couple of really good choices...and one is less than two hours away. That would be MY choice, but it's just not that easy, is it????

  4. I knew a girl whose friend moved from a small town in South Carolina all the way to California on a full scholarship. It's such a long way - coast to coast. Maybe he'll end up going somewhere closer, but if not hopefully things will work out for you and your son. My mom thinks I'm far enough away from home and I go to a school that's only a half-hour away.

  5. Two thumbs up for looking on the bright side. :) Thanks for your sweet comment today!

Also, guess what? I received a package from you! Thank you so much. :) I've already put the St. Pattys towels on display!!! :) After this party business dies down, I'm going to post about them. :)

  6. yes, just think how much fun it will be to visit him! :) i left home in hawaii to attend college in indiana...that's $700-$1200, 2-3 planes, and roughly 5,000 miles away.

flat cornfields don't offer much of an incentive to visit me, either. ;)

i imagine it will be hard to find myself on the other end of this equation. no matter what your son chooses, God will hold him close. (and please remind me of that when it's my turn.)

  8. Goodness, that's a long way from home :( I can imagine there isn't much you like about your son going to college there, I can't even imagine Kristen going anywhere, I'm hoping I'm lucky and she goes to UT! Lovely view though. How long are you there?

  11. Hi Richella! I was here earlier today but my comment wouldn't go through...odd. (Same thing happened on another blog I visited.)

Anyway, just wanted to say good luck in the search. Our boys are really little, but my husband and I have talked about how if they do move away, we hope it's somewhere we like to visit!

  12. Oh I remember those days. All three of my children went really far away to school and it was so hard, especially when the last one left. Just say a prayer and keep all your fingers and toes crossed and it will be ok. lol Good Luck. Hugs, Marty

  13. Oh my! Motherhood is for the brave, Richella.

At least campus visits will be like vacation.

  14. Spectacular...My husband and I were talking the other night that our oldest will be 18 in only 6 short years. Where does the time go? I can't even begin to imagine her out, away from us; yet I understand the natural progression of life. Blessings as you walk this journey.
