Hallelujah.
It's not that I don't like summer. Summer is okay. But those lazy, hazy, crazy days drag on a little too long for me. I'm ready for crisp air and crunchy leaves and chilly nights. I'm ready for socks and closed-toe shoes.
Summer stretches on and on, sometimes feeling as if it will never end. Autumn, on the other hand, comes with a sense of energy and even urgency. It gives me a boost of energy, a desire to get up and get moving.
So I'm up and moving quickly, a spring in my step and a song running through my mind. Do you know it?
September SongWell, it's a long, long whileFrom May to DecemberBut the days grow shortWhen we reach SeptemberWhen the Autumn weatherTurns the leaves to flameOne hasn't got timeFor the waiting gameOh, the days dwindle downTo a precious fewSeptember~November~And these few precious daysI'll spend with youThese golden daysI'll spend with youK. What about you? Are you happy to see Autumn come? Or sad to see Summer go?
Our summer just wasn't long enough or very hot this year. The Oregon rain has already started here, of course when we are trying to get our home exterior painted and done before winter hits. I feel energized and alive when the weather cools down and I even love snow days. Ice, not so much because I hate being housebound, but cold, definitely.
ReplyDeleteA little of both. I'm sorry to see summer go, but I do like autumn.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for fall. I am tired and weary of 90 plus degree days. I love the smell of fall, the crisp feel of the chill on my face and the decorations. I sure enjoy having all four seasons here in NC. Each one brings its own gift and I am ready for the ones that Autumn offers:)
ReplyDeleteI looooove autumn!!! I'm a cold weather lover by nature so I'm beyond ready for the richness the fall brings, especially in color :-)
ReplyDeleteI have one word too: Amen.
ReplyDelete;)
So ready for Fall!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little of both. I worked so hard this summer that I don't feel like I had one. That stinks! So, in that sense, I'm not ready to see it go because I feel like it never came.
ReplyDeleteHowever, yesterday as we pulled into the church parking lot I looked among a cluster of trees still full of green leaves and there was a small cluster of brilliant red leaves. It took my breath away.
I'm happy for the rhythms that come with fall, happy for the holidays and cooler days, but I can't say that I'm itching to see these Indian summer days come to an end either.
How's that for wishy washy?
As much as I too love summer...I am VERY ready for fall! I have my candy corn out already! Is that wrong? lol!
ReplyDeleteGoing to miss the flip-flops and capris, but ready for potato soup and hot club sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteOur trees are just starting to get the hint of somethings happening. Just hope we get some rain, so the leaves will change colors and not just die and fall off. I would love to see some color.
Karen
Oh you can't even imagine how happy I am to see Fall, today was finally a cool morning, might have even been below 70!!! I our summer was as usual too long and too hot so I'm looking forward to enjoying the next few cooler months.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall Richella

It is still in the ninties here....I am soooo ready for autumn. Bring it on! Carla
ReplyDeleteoh, tomorrow may be the offical start of fall, but it is still hot here! i am anxiously awaiting the crisp days, without trying to wish marching band season away!
ReplyDeletethat tree is gorgeous!!!
YES!!! I'm not fond of summer - by the end of June it's already too hot for me. We're having very cool mornings but by 11 it's already in the 80's. So I think we've got another month before we see some true fallish days here in ATL.
