If I speak with the tongues of Facebook and Twitter
but have not love,
my writing is only spam.
If I have the gift of posting the most up-to-date projects
but have not love,
I am nothing.
If I have faith that I can build my blog into a thriving business
but have not love,
I gain nothing.
Love leaves the keyboard in search of a child's laugh.
Love smiles at the fingerprints on a freshly-cleaned monitor.
Love picks up the child before she picks up the remains of a photo shoot.
Love kisses the skinned knee before she responds to an email.
Love puts her family first, regardless of page views and click-throughs and revenues.
Love realizes that while she may write wonderful posts
or series of posts or even an e-book,
she'll never write a greater story than she is writing in the hearts of her children.
or series of posts or even an e-book,
she'll never write a greater story than she is writing in the hearts of her children.
Love crawls with her baby, walks with her toddler, runs with her child,
then stands aside to let her precious one walk into adulthood.
As a blogging mother there is much I must teach my child
But the greatest of all is love.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! I can't wait to be able to experience this first hand with my own kiddies someday! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI wish you could *like* a post on Blogger like you can on FB. f
ReplyDelete*LIKES*
Richella,
ReplyDeleteDid you write this?
Oh my, it is the most beautiful thing I have ever read. I am leaving my computer right now to go hug Eli. Thank you, friend. I love you.
Beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteRichella, this is absolutely beatiful! This absolutely touched me this morning. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteYes, Traci, I wrote this (with a little help from the Apostle Paul).
ReplyDeleteYou should know that you and Cyndi, such wonderful mothers, inspired me. You two and Layla, who is preparing to love her children with her whole heart. :)
Beautiful, Lovedom is the conferance that should be happening in our homes everyday. So glad I got to meet other mothers who feel the same way I do. You are a blessing sweet friend.

Well said! Between you and Paul, I think you pretty much nailed it. Thank you, thank you for a poignant reminder that blogs are nice and business is good, but the real accolades we should be seeking are assurances from Him that we are fulfilling our roles as moms. Going to have some extra snuggle time today with my little ones---just decided to skip MOPS set-up tonight after reading this. :)
ReplyDeleteI. Love. You! :)
What a beautiful reminder! Thank you!
ReplyDeletei was gonna ask if you wrote it, too... i should never even have wondered :) i love that picture of you (well, both of them!) with your little guy at the trains!!
ReplyDeleteRichella you have a heart filled with love and kindness and it shows. You are so right. A blog is just a blog after all. People are what matters most. I'm honored to have *met* such amazing friends.
ReplyDeleteEspecially *you*. *Smiles*
Happy day! ~Melissa :)
Beautiful Richella! When I started blogging I purposed to only do it when my youngest was resting during the day or at night after the kids are in bed. I don't want their memories of mommy to be of me sitting at the keyboard! I think this is something so many folks can relate to and it is a good reminder for us all. Thank you so much for being a positive voice in this blogging community!
ReplyDeleteI am going to bookmark this, Richella. Beautiful post! It would be so easy to be consumed by blogging especially after the conference. I have to have strict "rules" for myself about the computer - what a slippery slope it can be.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet pic that is! :)
That was beautiful and really puts things into perspective! Many Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI so love your post today...My daughter Jaclyn and I are both bloggers and try to do what you have suggested...So important...Blessings to you and your family... fondly,Julie lifeatfirelakecamp.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteUmmm, I needed that reminder. Thank you, Richella.
ReplyDelete" . . . she'll never write a greater story than she is writing in the hearts of her children."
ReplyDeleteOh my word, that is so TRUE! Thank you for pointing me to the heart of the matter today.
Great post, Richella. It all comes down to one little word, doesn't it? I pray every day that I am teaching my girls to love above all things. Carla
ReplyDeleteI am printing this and putting it by my computer! This is absolutely perfect and just what I needed! Thank you Richella!
ReplyDeleteWow Richella that made me cry. I could hear your sweet voice reading it. I know you well enough to know you meant every word of that!
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me!!
Cyndi
P.S. I. Love. You. Girl.
I came over from Beneath My heart but seeing your "grammar lesson" section means i HAVE to subscribe. I have a number of pet peeves when it comes to grammar and spelling. i am known as "The Editor" at work and can spot a spelling error a mile away. I am so glad that SOMEONE is trying to help people with its/it's , to/too and there/ they're/ their. THANK YOU!

Love your blog, just found it. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet. And I love this post. I hate I didn't get to talk to you more, in Nashville, but so glad to have the honor of meeting you! ;) And you look WAY too good to have a nineteen year old! I HOPE to look half as good as you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much...this is such a great reminder and so well put :)
ReplyDeleteThis is SUCH a gorgeous post. I love it - and perfect right as we're coming back from Blissdom. So great to meet you :)
ReplyDeleteThis is terrific!
ReplyDeletePrecious post Richella! At my house, love means putting the computer down when my baby says, "Mommy, I want to hold you!"
ReplyDeleteYou're so right! The ones we love are sooooo much more important than the lastest comment or blog post.
Wow! Beautiful truth and beautifully written!
ReplyDeleteWow! I have chills reading this. Thank you so much for sharing. I think I will print this and post in my office. Thank you and have a blessed weekend!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! You are so right. It is so easy to get caught up in how to make our blogs bigger and better...when right in front of us are the people who need our attention first. This is a very encouraging post. Visiting via Amanda's blog.

"Love realizes that while she may write wonderful posts or series of posts or even an e-book, she'll never write a greater story than she is writing in the hearts of her children." This is what Love does at my house. I get this one space of time to be their mommy, to train them in the Way they should go, to lavish love on them.
Just precious. So very true.
ReplyDeleteRichella - LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!
ReplyDeleteSo great meeting you at Blissdom!!:)
Dee
