This was Preston with his older brother on his very first day of school:
This was Preston on his last day of school:
And a couple of weeks ago, Preston went to Chapel Hill for new student orientation at the University of North Carolina. I would join him later for some parent programs, but for awhile, he was there alone. He kept me updated via text message.
Imagine my surprise when I received this text from Preston:
I just met Carla from Country Diary of a Southern Lady.
Can you imagine? At freshman orientation for a huge state university, one of my dear blogging friends recognized Preston and introduced herself and her daughter Catie, who was also on campus for freshman orientation. I got to meet Carla and Catie later, and they are just as lovely in person as you'd expect from Carla's blog.
A real-life connection first formed in the blogosphere. Isn't that a blessing? A gift from God--grace imparted to me. I am thankful.
What about you? Would you share the story of a gift you've received from God's hand? It can be large or small--I'd love to hear about it! You can click here to read all about this new linky party celebrating God's gifts to us. And please help yourself to a button and help me spread the word.
Oh wow! I imagined that you and Carla arranged to meet. I had no idea that it happened this way. Wouldn't it be neat is Preston and Catie became freshman buddies??
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! How nice of Carla to go out of her way to introduce herself. It really says something about Preston's character that he realized how you'd appreciate hearing about their run-in.
ReplyDeletei LOVE that you got to meet a blogging friend... and... it just brings a fresh sense of love to this blogging world. that it is real. that our families are wrapped up in it, and even though it is nor their choice, they know it is a treasure to our heart. i hope that i would be as brave as carla :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that Preston met your blog friend and her daughter...and that later you also got to meet up with them. I KNOW that was a God thing! God is soooo Good!
ReplyDeleteI hope I can meet some of my blog friends someday. I love them...and YOU are one that I enjoy so much Richella!
God Bless!
Linda @ Truthful Tidbits
That's so neat, Richella! I'd love to meet some of my blogging friends, you being one!
ReplyDeleteI did get to meet with a blogger recently, as you saw in my post, but it wasn't quite the same as just recognizing someone you've only seen via blog.
That is precious! What a great story! The world is really such a small place sometimes, isn't it? Love that!
ReplyDeleteHow neat! Bloggy friends are so precious and even more so when you finally get to meet in person... which we need to do soon.
ReplyDeleteSo, hypothetically, one day you could be sitting on your back porch rocker telling your grandchildren that because of your lil' ol' blog, their parents met. Hehehe!
Isn't it so sweet that God does that for us...and our children?
ReplyDeleteI do have a story about Grace Imparted but I'm tired after my heart test this morning. When I've rested up enough I'll post and then link away! : )
Richella, thanks for such a sweet mention. I didn't know that Preston had sent you a text. How sweet of him! Catie and I enjoyed meeting you and Preston and we look forward to seeing you again. She is almost ready to move in. We have a few more items to purchase and a little more planning to do, then we'll be good to go. I guess I will be ready when the time comes. Carla
ReplyDeleteI love this story!
ReplyDeleteLast week I got to stay with and meet several blogger friends, so I know how wonderful the bond and sisterhood of blogging is!
I want to meet you sometime.
maybe when I go get Sarah from Winston-Salem? On or around the 12th/13th of this month?
I'll email ya or message you on Facebook?
I love reading these stories of God's amazing grace for us all!
Thank you for the partay!
