Christmas parties are getting underway in the blogosphere! Today's celebration includes Christmas tablescapes.
I first painted my dining room red back in 1991. This year, I finally made a bold change, and mynew blue dining room is enjoying its first Christmas season.
I love a pretty tablescape. I've always wanted to be the kind of hostess who throws lovely dinner parties with the table decorated to the nines, complete with fresh flowers, sterling silver flatware, place cards, and a favor for each guest. Unfortunately, I am not that kind of hostess. When I throw a dinner party, I try to make the table look nice, but I usually just end up with candles on the table; the rest of the space is always taken up by the food!
I do decorate my tables for Christmas, though, so I'll share some photos with you.
My blue and white porcelain footbath is usually holds a live plant, but at Christmastime I fill it with ornaments. A small collection of crystal candlesticks adds some holiday sparkle with very little fuss.
This photo gives you a glimpse into the foyer beyond, which is starting to look festive:
The dining room is pretty at night, too:
The centerpiece on the everyday dining table is compliments of my youngest son, known on YouTube as LegoLee329. Last year he asked to create a Lego winter village to be used as part of our decor. My idea was to cover a tray with white felt so that his vignette could be moved safely out of the way when we need to use the whole table. He added to the winter scene this year, so he needed a large board to hold it:
Just look at all the toys around the village Christmas tree!
And one of my favorite parts is the Christmas tree lot:
So how about you? Do you create lovely tablescapes? I'd love to see!
I'm joining Layla and Kevin at The Lettered Cottage for their Christmas Tablescapes party. Check it out for lots of beautiful tabletop inspiration!
You do everything with so much class. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour dining table looks so pretty with your festive Christmas ornaments and candles surrounding it. I love how it looks lit up at night too. I'm very impressed with your sons lego centerpiece too! My 10 yr old loves legos. I'll have to show him your son's masterpiece. Ha!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Richella. I love your table setting! Such a cozy and inviting room!
ReplyDeleteYour table is great and the legos are by far my favorite! Read your beautiful post over at Serenity Now today and wanted to stop by and let you know how encouraging your words are! I feel the chaos already and you shared some great reminders to stay sane and really breathe in the important things this season! xo Ashley
ReplyDeleteI love the Lego village!! My eight year old son would be in awe of this Lego display. Awesome!!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely, Richella. The festive table looks so nice with the blue color. I remember the Lego village from last year. So fun!
ReplyDeleteI think that's really nice you let your son help decorate the table using his legos!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that lego village, never seen one before, wow, my grands are going to love this! Your dining table setting looks so beautiful and elegant, so lovely. Enjoy your week.

One of my four year olds just saw Lee's Lego Christmas Village and said, "I want that!" What a great testimony to Lee's beautiful creation.
ReplyDeleteI can't do a tablescape with the kids - they almost broke the candles on the table yesterday. But we've got a credenza that's all decorated with snow globes, snow babies and little treasures gathered over the years. With a table runner and white light garland, it is very serene.
Sending prayers to you, Preston and the rest of the family,
Erin
You and your son did a lovely job of decorating- as always!!
ReplyDeleteThe Lego village is wonderful, I think you have a budding artist! Your table looks beautiful and I love the blue walls. XO, Pinky
