After being out of town all week, I was grocery shopping today when I came across a wonderful clearance item:
TWO boxes of sugar cereal for just $2.74. They jumped right into my cart.
Now I've eaten two big helpings of them instead of a nutritious lunch. My tummy hurts and my jeans feel tight. And I'm reminded of the time I found my favorite brand of ultra-chewy taffy on sale and bought two bags. As I gleefully showed my bargain to Jack, he said,
"That's a great deal if you don't count the cost of the root canal."
Am I the only one who struggles with such foolishness?
I know I wouldn't have passed up that bargain! I know I shouldn't indulge in it, but sugary cereal is so good!!
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one. But today I was very proud ... I didn't let any bad junk jump into my cart ... even though it really wanted to. Especially with a snow storm coming.
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Glenda
Considering that this week at the store I bought the exact same box AND the chocolate version because there was a great coupon, I can say whole heartedly, NO!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know it isn't just me who does that! :-) I have such a serious cereal addiction and recently gave up having a bowl at night since I knew it wasn't helping MY jeans fit any better! Tomorrow's a new day though right? :-)

You're definitely not the only one, although cereal would not have been a temptation to me. I'm always on the lookout for a bargain, especially if it's really reduced and I know the children will gobble it up. I have determined, however, that anything less than 50% off won't enter my cart, so that reduces my foolishness.
ReplyDeleteOh, you are preaching to the choir here! ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Why do hubby's always have to be so "bottom line"? I don't know that I would have been able to pass that up though :-)
ReplyDeleteClearance holiday candy always gets me:) I actually did pretty good after Valentine's this year though!
ReplyDeleteYou could have called me.
ReplyDeleteI would have helped you with that cereal and you would have avoided a tummy ache.
;)
Uh, P.S. and don't get mad at me.
ReplyDeleteI now make my own cereal. Truth. Have been for about a month. Granola.
It's cheaper and better for ya, I think.
I 'spose I should blog about it, eh?
I know this comment is full of grammatical errors. Sry.
I hear you, lol. I do have to say that now that I don't have hormone driven binges, I have more control over what I eat but I still have "those" days when I crave junk, then feel awful after indulging.
ReplyDeletewonderful post information Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteNot at all! I saw some Weight Watchers lemon cakes on sale and guess how many I ate the other day?? 4. in a row. Not so weight watchers now, is it? Uggghhh.
