March madness

This is my oldest son, Will. Will is a junior at Duke University. He spent the winter sleeping in a tent so that he could attend the Duke-Carolina basketball game. (To get in line for a student ticket, Duke students must "tent" on the lawn outside Cameron Indoor Stadium, affectionately called Krzyzewksiville.)



This is my middle son, Preston. Preston is a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Here he's pictured with two of his fraternity brothers at UNC. His favorite line is "Tarheel born, Tarheel bred, and when I die I'll be Tarheel dead."


Tonight is the game. Someone has to win, which means someone has to lose. And I'm one of those moms who likes all her children to be happy. Oh, boy.

    My grandpa taught us the old "Go Carolina, Go Carolina! Go, Carolina...go to ___, Duke!" cheer from a very young age. I'm sure people loved hearing us chant that one. Bet you can't guess who we cheer for at the T house. ;)

    Oh, the joys of a house divided!

    I already have my Carolina blue on and am ready.

    I was at the Dean Dome for the game a few weeks ago and will never forget. Goodness. Someone gave the tix to me and I hadn't been in 19 years since I was a senior. So did NOT appreciate those tickets as a student - I camped out too but nothing like the crazy "tenting" they do at Duke.

    I know where you'll be at 7....

    UNC....or Duke? Love the b-ball tradition there!
    Our oldest goes to a small college 2 hours away, and our middle son goes to the big uni in the state, so no rivalries there!

    I'm with you on this post. Yesterday we attended the Wofford-Western Carolina game just as we did 2 years ago. I told my husband our tickets should be free since we pay tuition at both!Our son, who is at Western could not care less about sports. Our daughter, who is at Wofford is at the other end of the spectrum. Let's just say it was a long ride back down the mountain!

    Our family, had a little rivalry going on for the 4:00 game yesterday so I know what you are talking about.
    One of us was mighty happy, the other...not so much!

    I love this post! How fun {and nerve-wracking} to have such a fierce rivalry in the family. I come from a long line of Carolina fans but my brother married a Duke girl and their marriage is still going strong. She is precious.

    Hope you're doing well, sweet friend. I've been keeping up with your posts in my reader but I usually read it on my phone and ugh, leaving comments via phone is just no fun.
