The urgent care physician couldn't diagnose the problem, so she recommended that we go to the local Emergency Room for a CT scan. Of course we went straight to the hospital--but by then it was 9:00 P.M. and we were told that the wait time at the ER was five hours. FIVE HOURS. Lee's pain had subsided by then, so we decided that spending five hours in an ER waiting room was not the best course of action. Thank God, Lee is much better now, and we can follow up with our physicians here.
I have lots to share, and I look forward to catching up with you all. Right now, though, I need a rest from my vacation!
**Have you ever dealt with an emergency when you were away from home?**
I think I know where you were- Downtown Disney? We missed each other there by a couple of weeks. Hope your Lee is okay. It is always scary when something like that happens. xo Diana
ReplyDeletePoor Lee! I hope he continues to feel better and that it turns out to be nothing. Emergencies away from home? Oh, yes, I've had my share. But the one that takes the cake is my niece, then 7, who, while staying on Ocracoke Island, had severe abdominal pain. There isn't a hospital on the island, so she and her parents went by some sort of emergency vehicle and just made the ferry, bumping off scheduled passengers. Once she got to the hospital, she used the restroom and, after she finally emerged, said she felt all better! I don't think my brother has recovered from that one yet.
ReplyDeleteOh my word, honey, have you ever had the health crises this year! I sure hope Lee is feeling better tonight and that you can figure out what's going on. Thankfully we've never had to deal with a health emergency while on vacation. Whew!
ReplyDeleteI hope Lee is better today, and I hope his doctors figure out what was going on. How scary to be away from home and to have that happen!
ReplyDeleteWow, how funny-we were at Legoland this weekend, only here in California! We had such a blast!
ReplyDeleteScary about Lee's pain, but so glad it subsided! We actually had an emergency too- our sweet 2 year old woke up at 3:00am in our hotel room on day 3 of our vacation with a HIGH fever; we were THISCLOSE to going to the ER, but it went down, and just a cough and lethargy remained for a day or two. I was so anxious over it!
I'm so sorry you had to go through that experience. I would have freaked out I think, ok I know. You handled it so well and I hope everything is ok with your son. My son just had a cat scan because the doctor thought it was appendicitis and I knew it wasn't. It turns out he was constipated. I questioned whether or not it really needed to be done, but I wish I would have got a second opinion and now I feel guilty for exposing my son to a catscan. They have so much radiation and my son is young. Next time I will get a second opinion.
ReplyDeleteRichella I hope he's doing okay? That was a scare I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful spring break.
Blessings,
Cyndi
