Early Halloween decor?

Salutations!

Look, I love all kinds of creatures. And I really don't mind finding different kinds of critters around my house. But I've discovered that I have to draw the line somewhere--somewhere short of finding this friend in my garage:

Even with its legs curled under, this thing is 2 full inches across.  Now, I know that's probably no big deal in some parts of the world, but this is my house.  And with all due respect to Charlotte A. Cavatica,  I just don't do big spiders.

What about you?  Any creepy-crawlies around your place?

  3. Eww! I opened the door yesterday and saw a big spider on the other side of our glass storm door. Yuck! Not a fan of spiders.

  5. Oh my gosh, I really might have passed out if I found that. Was it dead when you found it? Please tell me it was dead and that you don't live anywhere near Atlanta. I'm just going to keep telling myself we don't have spiders that big here...

  6. Now that I have recovered, there was a huge tarantula on our bathroom ceiling and I used an entire can of spider spray on it just to make sure. I told my husband it was the size of a car...well, it seemed that big.

  7. HA! Yuck. Last week we had a mouse. Sorry, but they are not welcome here. Had my husband "take care" of it for me. I'm like you, I don't mind a few but I definitely have to draw the line. I think the smaller the better. ;)

  10. Spiders give me goosebumps. Last night I opened the front door to let the dog out and a huge roach flew in on me. I was running around and screaming all over the place. Thankfully my husband took care of it. Definitely not a fan of bugs.

  13. hahaha...how quickly you change sides!...remember my spider post last week and you wrote this:
"She's a beneficial garden spider! I know she looks menacing, but she's the one who eats the real pests! :)"
I just started laughing as I read your post...I would have screamed bloody murder! and Yours is quite a bit bigger than mine...hopefully he doesn't have a bunch of babies running around the neighborhood!

  14. It looks scary , but is actually a harmless wolf spider. That is even a scary name, isn't it??? We had lots of them in Charleston. The one thing that I do NOT suggest doing is smashing it. They carry their eggs/babies on their back. On two different occasions, I forced ( and I do mean force as he is screaming that it is bigger than his shoe!) him to kill them, and hundreds of babies go scurrying off! He had to get the leaf blower to blow them out of the garage!

  15. Uh! I hate spiders and luckily see very few in our home. It would be me or them and I'd hate to pack my bags. :)

  17. Oh. My. Gosh. I would move. Seriously. I am not afraid of mice, worms or snakes, but spiders bigger than 1/4 inch I hate! Even the little ones will send me into a backflip if I see one crawling on me!

  18. I'm laughing because I just battled a mammoth spider in our yard yesterday. I really wanted to let him go, but my girls were terrified and kept begging me to do the little guy in. My two-year-old was all too happy to smash at his web with a shovel. Perhaps I should be concerned about that... :)
