Grace at Home No. 444

Hello  my friends! Here we are at the end of October. . . wow!

In case you need some Halloween cheer this year, may I present the cutest little pumpkin I've ever seen?

If I were ever to forget how quickly time flies, my grandson would remind me. It seems that he should still be a tiny newborn.

I'm so glad to welcome you to the Grace at Home party, where we celebrate the ways we make our homes and spheres of influence places of grace. Here are some highlights from last week's party.

If you still need a Halloween costume for someone in your house, check out this DIY LEGO brick costume from Crystal at Crystal and Co. My boys would have loved this!

Next week it will be time to put away the Halloween things and turn our attention to Thanksgiving. IF you're hosting a gathering at your house, Marty at A Stroll Thru Life can help you use what you have to set a lovely table.

And if you'd like to do something a bit more grand, Renae from Peacock Ridge Farm shows you how to make a gorgeous flower arrangement for your Thanksgiving table.

If you're like me, you love finding new, easy dinner recipes. Kay from Celebrating Southern Cooking with K helps us out with these Crispy Garlic Butter Chicken Thighs. I want to try these!

But if you're like me, you are also happy to get a new recipe for a sweet treat, and this salted caramel sauce from Nancy C sure looks yummy.

Do you sometimes feel that time is zooming by much too quickly. Julie from Filling the Jars can help you slow down and appreciate each day.

And if you find yourself consumed with worry as you consider all the difficulties that life may bring, Barbara from Stray Thoughts can help you change your "what if" mentality to "even if" thinking.

Grace at Home No. 443

Hello, friends! I am writing this on a crisp October day, grateful that even here in North Carolina the weather is finally starting to feel seasonally appropriate. I know my friends up North may scratch their heads at this, but around here the summer weather drags on and on. I'm glad to be able to wear a sweater! What's it like in your neck of the woods?

I'm also glad to welcome you to the Grace at Home party, where we celebrate all the ways we make our homes and spheres of influence places of grace and beauty. Here are some features from last week's party.

Want some fun Halloween decorations but also want to keep things in the neutral color zone?  Angela from Simply Beautiful by Angela has some great tips for you.

Is there a dated feature in your home you'd like to change, but you can't afford to tear it out and start over? Christin from My Homier Home shares her step-by-step process for updating her fireplace surround—with spray paint!

Want to be hospitable but not sure where to start? Jenn from The Everyday Farmhouse can help you—I love her unique take on making your home welcoming.

Planning a Halloween gathering? Carol from BlueSky at Home shares a complete tutorial for making DIY place cards. Her ideas could easily be adapted for other holidays, too.

Cooler weather makes me long for warm, filling foods, but these days I'm trying to not to go overboard with eating too much gluten and sugar. If you're like me, you'll be glad to see this recipe for Almond Flour Pancakes from Julie at Julie's Creative Lifestyle.

If you like to read books and support authors (as an author, I surely appreciate that!) but you can't afford to purchase every book, what can you do? Barbara at Stray Thoughts has some great ideas.

Are you in the midst some work that feels unduly hard, even horrible? The wise and encouraging Michele Morin from Living Our Days shares some valuable words to help you persevere.

Grace at Home No. 442

Welcome, friends! Honestly, it seems as if I blinked and it's mid-October. I've heard many times that the passage of time seems to speed up the older you get, and I believe that's true.

I'm so glad you're here for the Grace at Home party, where we celebrate the ways we make our homes places of grace and beauty. Here are some highlights from last week's party.

Now that we're well into Autumn, have your decorated your home for the season? Denise from My Home of All Seasons shares her method of decorating her front porch.

Are you looking for quick ways to update a room in your home? Renae from Peacock Ridge Farm transformed her dining room using peel-and-stick wallpaper, and she shares instructions on how to do it for yourself.

Want to update your bathroom but don't have much to spend? Julie from My Wee Abode shares how she changed the look of the dated bathroom in her apartment. So many wonderful, cost-effective ideas?

As the weather grows chillier, no doubt we'll be keeping our windows closed more and more. Kathryn from The Dedicated House reminds us that we need indoor plants for indoor air quality.

As prices on most goods have risen lately, do you find yourself need some help in saving on groceries? Lazy Budget Chef can help, such as with this post that explains how to shop for loss leaders.

Need a hot and filling dinner option that takes very little hands-on time? Kristy from Mommy Hates Cooking shares her Slow-Cooker Chili recipe.

As the Autumn and Winter holidays are approaching, there are lots of yummy-looking recipes floating around. But what if your health demands that you're trying to lose weight these days? Wendy from The Inspired Eater shares some tips for keeping things "small and sane."

Last but not least, Barbara Harper shares some sobering but also encouraging thoughts from having attended a memorial service. This will make you think about how you're living your days.
